Pleasant Encounters in Lunerburg, a Spectaucular Well Preserved Medieval Town in Germany

Luneburg, Germany

After a not so smooth ride from Potsdam, we finally arrived at Lunenburg, Germany at around 530pm.

The train arriving to Luneburg was packed. Watching a young German mother struggling to get off the train with her baby in a huge stroller, I gave her a hand.

We were surprised at the automation of the train system and the absence of train personnel at train stations in Germany.

If we ever needed assistance or wanted to ask questions regarding our train travel, there was hardly anyone in sight available to help except in big city major stations. We arrived in Luneburg but were unsure to which direction we should be heading.

How and where do non German speaking visitors get help at train and bus stations in Germany when so few train employees are deployed ?  I wondered.

Unable to read any German, we were looking around, hesitating and trying to orientate ourselves. The young mother whom I helped earlier smiled at us and volunteered to offer us some directions.

That was nice.

You give and you get back.

After checking into anther B hotel by the train station, we strolled around town, crossing a bridge and headed to the town square.

What a spectacular sight it was in front of us!

Luneburg, an amazing well preserved medieval town in Germany

We saw beautiful medieval architecture all around us!

We had walked into an absolutely unbelievable spectacular well persevered period in history

The amazing thing about Luneburg is that the buildings in the town square are not the only ones that have been well preserved.

As we explored the town further, we discovered that these beautiful buildings were everywhere in this little town!

Prior to our visit to Germany, we never heard of Luneburg before.

We learned about this pretty little town by talking to other tourists while traveling in Germany.

They highly recommended us to visit this medieval town and we sure glad we did.

We were determined to try some German food at one of the restaurants outdoor.

We tried some genuine German food in Luneberg.

Looking  around us to see what the local people were eating, J. ordered exactly just that.

The dishes were delicious!
With beer and everything, our dinner came to 38.50 euros.  Very affordable indeed!

One of the ladies offered to take a group picture for us.
We were taking pictures of everything, our food, the scenery etc.
One of the German ladies sitting at the next table, gestured to us if  we wanted her to take a picture for the three of us.

That was very nice and thoughtful of her to ask. We loved to have a group picture of us.

This was the second time today a stranger volunteered to offer us some help. After our unpleasant experience on the train, this made us feel better about continuing our visit in Germany.

Thank you, ladies, for your kindness and attempts to help visitors to your country.

We appreciated your random acts of kindness!
