Dazzled by a Polish Folk Dance Dinner Show in Krakow, Poland

Sampling the local dishes and experiencing the local music, dances and culture are important parts of our travel itinerary.

Since we are staying in Krakow for a few days, we have plenty of time to enjoy the cultural aspect of the city.

We went to a Polish folk dance dinner show at JAMA MICHALIKA  in the Old Town District

My good Polish friend in Toronto told me that she used to have breakfast at this restaurant.

She would be happy to know that we enjoyed ourselves tremendously at this lovely place!

We had a dinner show at the Jama Michalika Restaurant, a Bohemian artsy place in Krakow's Old Town

The restaurant was full with dinner guests. We were seated at the front row, the best seats in the house.

There were colourful costumes and lively Polish music.

We watched a folk dancing performance.

The traditional Polish Sour Soup was delicious!

We enjoyed some good Polish food. It was a three course dinner starting with drinks. I enjoyed the  traditional Polish sour soup - it was simply delicious!

Then it was followed by stuffed turkey, vegetables and a dessert.

The courses were served in good time with performances and dancing in between the dishes.

It was a fun cultural experience and we met new people too. We met Latisa from Turks and caco and a couple from Montana, US.

Since we were sitting in the front row, both S. and J. were invited to dance with the folk dancers.
.

There was a lot of audience participation.

My favourite dance was the wedding dance. The dancers invited a few dinner guests to the floor. Together, they formed a circle dancing around.

It started with a male dancer dancing with a handkerchief in his hand. He danced around for a little while looking for the right person to whom he would pass his handkerchief. Then, he placed it in front of a girl whom he chose from the circle.

Both the dancer and the chosen person knelt down and kissed each other on the cheek.

The chosen person continued the dancing in the circle and trying to choose another person and placing the handkerchief in front of him/her.

The ritual of kissing started again and dancing continued etc.

That was a very fun dancing game!

We had a great evening!  J. sent us back to the serviced condo as we only had one key to the place. He went to a pub crawl joining other young people.

I prayed that he would have a good time and get back safely. Amen!
