Passing By Hamburg, Germany Briefly

Luneburg, Germany

We enjoyed our short visit to Luneburg.

After our visit to the Salt Museum in Luneburg, we took the 4:30pm train to Hamburg.

We were surprised at how affordable traveling by train this time. The fare was only 8 euros each.

In Hamburg, Germany, we checked in a hotel near the bus station as we would be catching an early bus the next morning.

We came across a festival by the waterfront in Hamburg

We walked around town and came across a festival at the waterfront.

Waterfront, Hamburg, Germany

As we walked, we saw a little bit of Hamburg downtown.

We were at the canal section of the town with water running between buildings on both sides.

Though the buildings were not colourful houses like the ones we saw in Italy, it did remind me of Venice a little.

We went to the waterfront area.

We celebrated S's  birthday at the Blockbrau.

We had dinner by the water's edge, J. ordered a Goulash soup and a steak. S. and I were happy to have a salad and some herring.

The part we enjoyed the most was talking with J. and catching up with him and learning more about his life and work overseas.

The Blockbrau was a nice venue to eat and talk.

Regrettably, we found our waitress a little rude.
When we made a request for seating, she replied loudly and rudely to us, not giving us much help at all.

Might be she was overworked a little? Not sure what the reason was.

I understood that there was no tipping in Germany, but the service we were getting from the front line service people was less than desirable.

Though passing through Hamburg for a brief time, we saw a few interesting buildings and had a feel of the city.

Always interested in architecture, I enjoyed looking at the modern buildings in Hamburg.

A German gentleman volunteered to help us at a Hamburg train station

We took the train back to the hotel. Not sure how much to pay for the train, we hesitated at the ticket machine.

A German gentleman came to our rescue and showed us what to do. He didn't speak any English but knew that we were not from the area, so he helped us to use the machine to buy our train tickets.

Hamburg, Germany

This was the third time we got some assistance from the German people here without asking for it.

 We were impressed!
