Attending a Chopin Concert in Krakow, Culture Capital of Poland

The Town Square in Old Town is where a lot of activities happen in Krakow, Poland.

A street musician playing near the Main Square, Krakow

We did a lot of walking for the past few days in the city of Krakow.

Playing on various musical instruments, street musicians performed beautiful music on the streets of Krakow.

Everywhere we turned, we saw notices outside or on church  doors.

There were public notices in public places informing residents and visitors about concerts and musical performances happening in the city.

One of the things our Polish friend recommended us to do was to attend a Chopin concert while visiting Krakow.

We did and bought tickets to a 7pm Chopin concert near the Old Town.

After our dinner we went to the music hall located on the second floor of one of the buildings.

The hall was not too big, with a grand piano placed at the front of the room.

However, it was hot without any air-conditioning but two small fans attempting to cool the temperature in the room.

As soon as the concert goers entered the hall, we were welcome to help ouselves with a glass of white wine set out on the table at the back of the room.

We met the gentleman who encouraged us coming to this concert the day before when we were buying our dinner ticket show. He received us warmly and led us to the front of the room where he reserved three front row seats for our family.

Another group of tourists came in and the room was filled to capacity.

The concert started with the same gentleman introducing the program.

The pianist,  a young man dressed in formal attire, chose and played Chopin's compostions through the different stages of his life.

Sitting at the front row, we were able to see the pianist's fingers flying on the keyboard and his expressions and enjoyment during his performance. The music was good.

I admired the Europeans who appeared able to tolerate high temperatures and function properly without air conitioning in these old buildings in Europe.

The concert woud have been much more comfortable and enjoyable for the audience and performers alike had there been a few more big fans in the mucis hall.
