Thumbs up to an Unplugged Wedding Ceremony on Burnaby Mountain,Park, British Columbia

Day 2 - This afternoon would be Jord's wedding! Looking out from our Vancouver bedroom window in the morning, we saw dark sky and heavy rain.  I prayed for better weather for the wedding ceremony for J.
Burnaby Mountain, British Columbia. Canada
After our breakfast at a restaurant, we went to pick up E. from the airport and drove to Burnaby.

The wedding ceremony was held at Burnaby Mountain Park / SFU conservation area.  The drive up the mountain was lovely.

In 1996 the city of Burnaby and Simon Fraser university signed an agreement to protect the Burnaby Mountain conservation area as parkland establishing a beautiful park with a total conservation area of over 1,428 acres of land.

The view of the city of Burnaby was breathtaking and its inlet was breaktaking!!

Playground of the Gods - a remarkable piece of art consisted of more than 50 Totem poles on Burnaby Mountain, B.C.

We were awed by the Playground of the Gods. I had never seen so many totem poles together at one place. It was spectacular!

A breathtaking view of the city and inlet from the top of Burnaby Mountain

The wedding ceremony was held in the rose garden with the trellis as the background.

White chairs were set out for the guests. It was a perfect setting for a wedding with all flowers in full blooms.

Who needs to buy any flowers, bouquets when the entire setting was surrounded by colourful flowers in bloom?

Thank God for answering my prayer!

It was raining all morning. But when it got closer to the time of the ceremony, rained stopped and the sky cleared up when guests were arriving.

It was a touching ceremony as we caught both the groom and his father all choked up with emotions wiping away a few tears of joy.

We attended numerous wedding ceremonies in the past. However, this one was different.

I liked two things about J. & M’s wedding:

1. This was an unplugged ceremony.

When we arrived at the site where the ceremony was to be held, we saw a picture frame standing on top of a platform made from two wooden crates.

Upon reading the document inside the frame, we learned about the bride and groom's desire for their ceremony.

J. and M. were bold enough to make a request  of their wedding guests. They wanted their guests to focus on sharing their joy on their special day asking them to turn off all cell phones, cameras and electronic devices.

😊 We totally supported them on their unplugged ceremony and admired their courage for asking.

Tancho Cranes - an Eco Sculpture lovingly pruned in the garden of Burnaby Mountain

2. It was evident that J. and M. spent a lot of time planning and thinking about the details of their wedding.

From the flowers to the decorations at both the wedding ceremony and reception, we could see little details reflecting the personalities of the new couple.

They truly made this wedding day their special day.

The wedding reception followed and was held at a community hall by the lake, another beautiful venue!

There was a photo booth with fun costumes for guests to post for pictures and lots of time for dancing as dinner was finished early.

We did quite a bit of dancing too!

While E. and the younger guests continued their dancing into the wee hours, we headed back to our hotel before midnight.

A great day!

Thumbs up to both Jord and Mel for an unplugged wedding!
May God bless your new life together as husband and wife!
