A Beehive of Activities at Prague's Old Town Square

While we were vacationing in Prague, we went to visit the Old Town Square every evening.

The spectacular Old Town Square is the oldest and most significant square in the historical part of Prague. It dates back to the 10th century and was used as a marketplace. The Old Town Square has witnessed coronations, important historical events, special celebrations as well as numerous executions throughout the centuries.

The Old Town Square has been rebuilt and receives millions of  international tourists every year.

Visitors to the Old Town Square watching the busker's performance.

Every time we visited the square, it was busy and filled with tourists, visitors and street performers.

The first performer we came across was a young man performing an amazing dance routine in a metal circle to classical music playing on a stereo.

There were buskers performing all types of musical/ magic show, acrobatic, dancing and sports tricks in different parts of the square.

There were many things happening at the Old Town Square.

Often, there would be a few performers entertaining crowds of visitors at the same time in different parts of the square.

People were just hanging around, sitting at the bottom of the fountain, on the ground, enjoying the ambience and the festival like atmosphere.

It was a lively and fantastic place to be!

The Square was a very busy place packed with locals and tourists.

There were numerous shops and stalls, special events and musical performances and concerts held in the various buildings and on the ground of the Old Town Square.

We attended a one hour classical concert at the St. Nicolas Cathedral in the Square on our last evening in Prague.

We attended an evening concert at St. Nicholas Cathedral

The interior of the St. Nicolas Cathedral was beautiful with a huge chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

There were a lot of young people mingling politely and engaging in  friendly conversations.

We were surprised at how peaceful and orderly everything was in the square.

The Old Town Square looked even more spectacular at night.

The Old Town Square in Prague looked spectacular at night!

I wish J. was able to enjoy this atmosphere. However, I also admired his determination of adjusting his bedtime so that he could start his new position and hit the road running as soon as the vacation was over.
