We had three groups of children at various ages taking part in our VBS this year. One of the activities we implemented was making Scripture Memory a fun daily activity for campers. We had two leaders responsible for this daily activity. The leaders rose to the challenge and came up with different ways helping our kids memorizing the daily scripture verses.
1. Treasure Hunt for a Scripture Memory Verse
The leaders wrote the scripture verse on three different coloured of paper. They cut up the scripture verses arranged in single word and they hid and taped these cut pieces in the church's enclosed yard.
It was a treasure hunt for children who went around looking for these pieces written on a particular coloured pieces of paper.
After the children found pieces of coloured paper for their respective group, they brought the pieces to their group leaders.
Together, the group put the scrambled words together to look for the verse and memorize it as a group.
For the younger children, the scripture verse was cut up in 3 word sections or phrases so that it would be easier for them.

2. A Decoding Game for a Memory Verse
On Day 2 of our VBS, the leaders came up with a different game. Each group was given a decoding message written on a piece of paper. Children worked together in their group to decode the memory verse and learn to recite it together.
3. A Scripture Puzzle
The leaders printed the verse on a piece of paper. Then they cut the paper into puzzle pieces.
Each group got an envelop containing the cut puzzle pieces.
Children worked within their group putting the puzzle together.
All the groups enjoyed this game a lot.
Hats off to the Scripture Memory Game Team! They did a fabulous job coming up fun games for our children to memory the verses.
