An old U.S. military building turned into a Panama government building in Panama City |
Though I visited Panama twice before, I did not do much sight seeing the last two times.
On our way to visit Isla Flamenco, Panama City |
This time, we have more time to visit a few places in this beautiful country tropical country.
The Bio Museum in Panama |
One of the places we visited was Isla Flamenco (Flamenco Island) near the city of Panama.
.
A delightful drive to the Isla Flamenco |
The Causeway Islands, located by the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal is composed of four small islands.
Flamenco Island is one of these four small islands
The Amador Causeway links these islands to the mainland.
We drove on the beautiful Amador Causeway flanked by tall palm trees and elegant old fashioned light fixtures.
Amador Causeway, Panama |
The Amador Causeway is a beautiful place for people to stroll, walk or jog along the waterfront.
It is pedestrian friendly and has ample benches for visitors to sit, relax and enjoy the skyline of Panama City.
A statue on the Isla Flamenco, Panama City |
It is a unique causeway as it was made from rocks extracted during the excavations of the Panama Canal.
The Flamenco Marina. Isla Flamenco, Panama |
We passed by the Flamenco Marina which is a popular mooring spot for yachts and fishing boats.
Many cruise-ship passengers get off from this point and then board tour buses to various attractions in Panama City.
There are a few restaurants and bars at the marina.
We had a good view of the Panama City skyline from our vintage point.
We stopped and had lunch at one of the restaurants overlooking the water.
The way the fish was served to us was quite unexpected!
The Isla Flamenco is a beautiful place to relax, to walk and to stop for lunch or dinner.
No wonder it is a popular destination for tourists day and night.
