Today was the second Sunday of our visit to San Francisco, we went to a Presbyterian church located in the downtown area.
This Presbyterian is a historic church as it is more than 160 years old. It is the oldest Chinese church in the United States.
We attended the morning service at around noon. Though small in number, there was a choir at the service.
The minister gave an inspiring message on this second advent Sunday.
The service was a little formal as both the minister and the choir members dressed in traditional church attires for the service.

After the service, we were invited to join in a birthday celebration in the church hall for one of the elderly church members.
We enjoyed a warm fellowship and light lunch in the church hall |
It appeared that church members can sign up to look after the refreshments and also celebrate special events in their lives with the congregation at the same time. I thought that was such a good idea.

We were treated to a light lunch, and a birthday cake afterwards. We sat with a family and some long time members of the church.
One of the elderly lady who has been with the church for over fifty years inspired me a lot.
She is in her 90's, very energetic and independent. Her positive attitude towards life, her grown children and active involvement in the church is an example for me.
We enjoyed the Sunday worship service, and were received warmly by the church family.
Most important of all, I loved the fellowship and sharing we had with the minister and some members of the congregation.
We are never alone when we belong to God's family!
