A Relaxing Day at the Fillmore Street Neighborhood, San Francisco

Beautiful old houses lining the streets of the Fillmore neighborhood

Since the day we landed in San Francisco a week ago, we have been sightseeing and walking everyday.

Today, we wanted to take it easy.
We slept in a little and enjoyed our breakfast in mid morning at the inn.

A small and charming house in the Fillmore SF neighbourhood 

We browsed in many nice stores along Fillmore st. SF

Desiring to learn more about the city of San Francisco and experiencing a non tourist area,  we chose to stay in another inn in a different neighborhood.

Our bed and breakfast inn for our second week of stay is located around the Fillmore area..















After breakfast, we strolled along Fillmore street and explored the neighborhood..

We found some interesting shops selling little trinkets, Christmas decorations.













All the shops were nicely decorated with artwork with their merchandises neatly arranged and displayed.

 

I was surprised at how the large quantities of the merchandises the merchants could display in a limited amount of floor space.

With the Christmas music playing softly in the background, nice aroma flowing through the stores, it was a pleasant experience browsing through the stores and looking at the pretty seasonal items.

We even found a classy second hand store in the area.














We visited a supermarket in the neighborhood selling a variety of ready made packaged take out food.

Though less touristy , there are many nice cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood

Fillmore Street is a nice neighborhood lined with nice shops and good cafes and restaurants.






















It reminded me of the upper west side neighborhood in New York.

We found there was a good selection of restaurants serving a variety of healthy ethnic food.

We tried the fresh local fish dish served with cole slaws and other vegetables.

It waa yummy and delicious!

After a satisfying lunch, we  went to explore the Fillmore area more.














We came across a magnificent building. It will be open tomorrow for a tour.  We plan to go back to visit this place.





















We went to a neighbourhood coffee shop, read, enjoyed our coffee and I did my writing.

What a nice relaxing day!
