Tulips at the annual Tulip Festival in Commissioners Park.,Ottawa |
We saw a spectacular flower show with brilliant flowers in Commissioners Park, one of the locations for the 2017 Ottawa's annual tulip festival at the end of May.
It was a nice fine day and we strolled along Dow's Lake Road.
We admired some of the beautiful privates houses and their gorgeous landscaping done by the homeowners.
This perennial front garden is a gardener's dream consisting of shrubs and plants that would flower year after year.
After our visit to Commissioners Park, we continued to explore the neighborhood in the area.
How lucky were we! We did not plan to visit Little Italy in Ottawa. We happened to come across this area by chance .
It is only a stone throw away from the tulip festival site.
Since we have a Little Italy in Toronto, we were interested to see what Little Italy is like in Ottawa.
Ottawa's Little Italy is a much smaller area compared to Toronto's.
It is a couple of small streets lined with Italian and a couple of German/ European restaurants.
Little Itlay is quite colourful with some large character cutouts displayed on some building balconies.
Outside patio seating abound for restaurant goers to enjoy the fine weather.
Baskets of fresh colourful flowers decorated the patios of a few restaurants making them delightful spots for meals and drinks with friends.
We took advantage of the fine weather and enjoyed a delicious lunch at one of the Italian restaurants.
