Canada 150, A Special Flower to Mark Canada's 150th Anniversary






After our coffee stop at the By Ward Market, the weather turned sunny and we proceeded to visit another landmark in Ottawa.

We walked through the Inspiration Village, across the road and climbed up the stairs to Major's Hill Park.

Spring flowers were in full bloom the day we visited the park.

Tulips come in a variety of colour



Tulips are the earliest spring flowers in bloom year after year in gardens across Canada.

They come in a variety of colours.
















The NCC  - National Capital Commission, the official gardener of Canada's capital, has done a great job in keeping the grounds green and beautiful in city of Ottawa.










A special flower, Canada 150, to mark Canada's 150th anniversary of Confederation




As Canadians celebrate the 150th anniversary of  Confederation, the NCC has planted a special tulip, Canada 150, to mark this special occasion.











300,000 of Canada 150 have been planted in flowerbeds by NCC in Ottawa





The Canada 150 tulip's "elegant white  bloom with red flames feature the national colour of Canada and recalls the iconic maple leaf of the national flag."















300,000 of  this special Canada 150 tulips are showcased in the flower beds in the Ottawa area and thousand more are blooming in various regions across the country.

Beside enjoying the sight and smell of these brilliant flowers on Major's Hill, we also had a spectacular view of the city of Hull across the Ottawa River.
