We went on a day tour to the city of Cienfuegos in Cuba recently.
Palacio De Valle, Cienfuegos, Cuba |
Our
first stop was Palacio De Valle.
This fabulous manor was purchased and had its construction completed by a rich plantation owner named D.A. De Valle.
An Egyptian sculpture guarding the entrance to the villa |
De Valle intended this grand mansion as a wedding present to his daughter.
A pair of Egyptian sculptures sit at the entrance welcoming visitors to this palatial building.
This
was an extravagant construction project which cost over a million and half pesos
during its construction period starting in 1913 and ending in 1917.
The villa is a two story building with a spacious rooftop accessible by a wrought iron spiral staircase
We climbed the narrow stairs and reached the rooftop terrace.
One of the three towers on the roof top of Palacio De Valle |
The roof top has three towers with symbolism for each.
One tower symbolizes strength, while the other two symbolizing love and religion as an institution respectively.
Enjoying a cold drink on the rooftop terrace |
There’s a rooftop bar with shady spots for some cool refreshments.
We were eager to enjoy a cold drink in the shade.
There was a group of musicians entertaining us while we were relaxing in the shade
I liked the creative outdoor furniture made out of rocks, stones and glass in the garden.
Palacio De Valle is of architectural and historic significance and it is one of the symbols of Cienfuegos.
A grand mansion, Palacio De Valle was only lived in by De Valle's daughter and her husband for about eighteen months after its completion.
