Home for the American Thanksgiving Weekend

Week of Nov. 20, 2017

Ever since our first born left home for university, he has been living on his own. Due to the mutual trade agreements between Canada and the U.S., it has been easy for many Canadians to work and live in the States, and vice versa for Americans wishing to work and live in Canada.

Our son was home for the American Thanksgiving holiday

We are grateful that E. has always come home for Christmas and he has never missed one year of spending the holidays at home with us.

However, he rarely comes home for the Thanksgiving holiday. We were pleasantly surprised that this year he wanted to come home for the holiday.

We have heard from people that the working environment is a little more relaxed on the west coast of the U.S. We have seen it with our eyes. Our son is not as stressed as he was working in New York and he does have more time off and be home more often.

It was great having him home for a few days for the American Thanksgiving holidays last week. However, he seemed to be disappointed that we did not plan to have a turkey dinner while he was home.

In order not to disappoint him, we went and bought a turkey that could be roasted from its frozen state.

I need to remind myself that if our son flies a few thousand kms to come home to see us, I must remember to cook his favourite food whenever he comes home.

A turkey dinner is one of his most favourite food.!

E. was relaxed enough to come into the kitchen and asked me to show him what to do. I showed him how to make the gravy for our turkey dinner. He did a good job!

We enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving turkey dinner at home with our son!
