Day 10, Saturday
We stayed at the James Bay Inn's two bedroom bungalow on our first night in Victoria.
After breakfast, we moved over to the hotel's main building. We would have loved to stay in the house for another night.
Victoria is a good city for walking tours.
Though we rented a vehicle on this trip, we preferred leaving it in the hotel parking lot and embarked on a self guided walking tour of the downtown area of Victoria.
We came across the Robert Bateman Museum.
Robert Bateman is a beloved well known Canadian artist. We had a brief visit there since we had so many other things we wanted to see in Victoria.
One of the interesting things we saw outside the Bateman Museum was this rolling bar taking passengers who could do sightseeing in the city and also enjoy their drinks at the same time.
Amid the unrelenting drizzle, we continued our stroll on the David Foster Harbour Pathway, enjoying the scenery along Victoria's waterfront.
We stopped for a snack break at the waterfront trail's sheltered picnic area.
We continued our exploration of this beautiful west coast city famous for its flowers and gardens.
Many people have told me that Victoria is a beautiful charming city.
We had to see and personally experience this incredible city to appreciate its beauty and charms.
Victoria is a gorgeous city!
We visited a number of places including a local farmers' market.
We went to Fisherman's Wharf and enjoyed some fresh seafood there.
The most interesting thing we saw at Fisherman's Wharf was the rows of neat colourful houses lining on both sides of the boardwalk.
This is a and beautiful community built on the water.
We saw many houses hugging the boardwalk with balconies at the back and some even with front porches as well.
To our delight, we discovered a new way of getting around in Victoria - via its waterway!
Instead of using land transportation, people in Victoria can take small passenger boats carrying them to other parts of the city.
Always ready to try new things, we took the water transport and got off at the China Town stop.
It was a short ride giving us a good view of Victoria from another angle.
The China Town in Victoria is one the oldest China Town in North America, also one of the prettiest with many interesting shops, bakeries tucked in some narrow alley ways.
The Victoria China Town offers more than Chinese foods and items. We browsed in a few interesting stores and enjoyed some Italian gelato, and fresh out of the oven pastries at a baked shop.
As we walked around China Town, we came across some special presentations taking place in one of the squares.
A special festival was going on and there were Polynesian dance and aboriginal performances at the square.
It was fun and free entertainment for everyone!
We ran into a couple of tourists coming off from a cruise ship looking for an award winning noodle restaurant. So we walked and went there for dinner as well.
While Ro. went to sleep early at the hotel, we took an evening walk around the neighbourhood and looked around in one of the stores.
It was a busy second day for us in Victoria!
