The 2017 Invictus Games were held in Toronto last week

There was a lot of excitement in Toronto last week as it hosted the  Invictus Games.

The Invictus Games competition was founded  by Prince Henry who fought in Afghanistan.

This was the third Invictus Games, and the first hosted in Canada

This was the third Invictus Game since its inception and the first one held in Canada.

The Invictus Games' Archery competition was held at Fort York, Toronto

The games are designed for wounded solders and veterans.

Canada was one of the 17 countries that sent wounded soldiers to take part in the game

Each year, about 5000 military personnel leave the Canadian forces and one out of five has been inflicted with a physical or or mental illness.

There were athletes from 17 different countries.

Canada welcome over 500 athletes to Toronto for the Invictus Games.

These athletes came from seventeen different countries which sent wounded warriors and soldiers to participate in this year's game.

The Invcitus Games were held at different locations throughout Toronto.

We went to watch the archery competition at the Fort York National Historic Site last week.

The athletes warming up and getting ready for the archery competition

The archers from the participating countries were practising their shooting prior to the competition in the practise field.

Being at York Fort and watching the archery game was a good experience.

It would have been a much more enjoyable and pleasant experience had the weather cooperated a little bit more.

Cheering for their athletes despite the rain and hails.

However, the rain and, at times, hail did not discourage or dampen the spirit or enthusiasm of the spectators cheering for the competing athletes.

We watched the final competition where athletes from Ukraine and Denmark were dueling it out for the men's gold medal.

After an intense competition, the Danish athlete won the men's gold medal in the end.

Danes celebrating their country's win at the archery competition

The Danish spectators celebrated and high five each other.

We caught a glimpse of the medal ceremony.

We were able to catch a medal presentation ceremony where Canada won a medal too. Hurrah!

A total of 1500 volunteers volunteered in the Invictus Games

Everywhere we turned at Fort York where the archery competition took place, we saw people in yellow jackets.

These friendly people were volunteers. There were 1500 of them volunteering their time for the Toronto's Invictus Games.

As we passed by our Canadian soldiers stationed at the gate, we saluted and paid our respect to them, those who willingly fight and defend our country, and for freedom.

We thank you and salute you , soldiers and veterans of Canada, for your valuable services to our country!
