A Drama Presentation on Moses

We ran a youth leadership camp in Cambodia
I love working with kids and young people!

They are so creative, imaginative and much smarter than we give them the credit for most of the time.

Pharaoh and his queen

One of the main purpose for us to be in Cambodia is to help the youths develop skills and confidence in running a children's camp for the local kids.

Our short term mission team went to Cambodia for the past five years. This is our sixth year being in Cambodia.

We told the bible story in skits for the youth leaders

Every year, the Short Term Mission Team runs a youth leadership training camp prior to the children's camp.

During the youth camp, we pretty well do a dry run of the programs we have planned for the children right after the youth camp.

We teach the youths the songs, the bible stories and demonstrate the drama presentations based bible stories.

Aaron and Moses went to see Pharaoh

I was a little hesitant at first as I was asked to take part in a play and was assigned one of the roles in the drama presentation.

Being in a play was something I did not show a lot of interest nor a desire to do. Being a team player, I went along with it.

I did better than I had anticipated and my teammates told me that I was one of the best one.

Using our sense of humor, we injected a lot of fun into the play. It was kind of fun performing in front of the young people!

The youth performed the story of Moses in the Children's Camp
We told the story of Moses in a series of skits for the youth leaders.

Using computer technology, plus our narrations and acting, we were able to tell the stories of God revealing himself to Moses in a burning bush, and how the ten plagues affected the ancient Egyptians.

But Pharaoh's heart remained stubborn and refused to let the Israelites go back to their homeland.

The youth leaders did a much better job than we did for the drama presentation

The purpose of our presentations to the youth leaders was for them to learn the stories so that they in turn will prepare their version of Moses' story to the kids in the children's camp.

Putting the boils on Pharaoh's face

The youth leaders did not disappoint us at all!  They did a much better job than we could and they were very creative in their presentations.

The youth leaders involved a lot of the children in their  skits and they were able to create crossing the Red Sea scene with very little pop but getting the message across clearly by having the children joining hands and forming waves to represent the waves of the Red Sea!

This was something we haven't even thought of!

The youth leaders also did a fantastic job in leading the crafts, singing and looking after the large number of children taking part in the camp.

Bravo to the Cambodian young people at our camp!
