Canadians have a few long weekends in the summer months. We love getting away from our home city and traveling to another.
We were traveling during the August 1 long weekend

. This time we went with a few church friends and planning to visit the Finger Lakes region in New York State.

Driving in three different vehicles, most group members met at our house at 6:30a.m. and we left shortly after to beat the long weekend traffic rush at the US/ Canada border crossing at Niagara Falls.
To our pleasant surprise, crossing the border wasn't as bad as we had expected.

My husband and I have driven by the city of Rochester umpteen times on our way to New York City.
Due to our ignorance, we never thought of stopping and visiting Rochester because we did not know there were anything interesting to see.

This time we did some research and decided to explore the city. Driving on the I90 highway, we passed and stopped by Rochester to see a couple of the city's famous attractions.
On our way to a restaurant for our lunch break in downtown Rochester, we drove past some interesting architecture!
We could hardly wait to jump out of our car and explore these very modern looking buildings.

Later on, en route to visit the Eastman House, we drove past some older buildings.

They were absolutely attractive, charming and beautiful private homes.

I could not help but asked my husband to stop our car so that I could take pictures of some of these gorgeous houses!
